What is a resin bound driveway and why are they so popular in Dublin? Resin bound is natural aggregate mixed with a clear UV-stable resin and hand-trowelled onto a solid base to give a smooth, seamless, gravel-look surface with no loose stone. It is permeable, so rainwater drains through it rather than pooling, which keeps it SuDS-compliant and usually free of planning permission. It needs almost no maintenance, comes in dozens of colours, and can often be laid over an existing concrete or tarmac driveway. That combination of looks, drainage and low upkeep is why it has become the most requested driveway finish in South Dublin and Wicklow, and why it is our specialism.

How much does a new driveway or patio cost? Every job is priced after a free site visit. As a rough guide only, in the current Dublin market resin bound and block paving driveways typically fall in the region of 60 to 100 euro per square metre supplied and laid over a sound base, tarmacadam from around 40 to 60 euro per square metre, and porcelain or natural stone patios around 90 to 150 euro per square metre. A full dig-out and new sub-base adds to each, and larger areas cost less per square metre.

How long does the work take? A typical two-car driveway takes two to five days depending on the surface and whether the old base needs to be dug out; resin bound over an existing base can be done in one to two days. Most patios take three to five days. We give you a start date and a finish date in writing before we begin.
