Porcelain Paving FAQ
I need a porcelain paving company near me. What is your catchment area?
We are a Dublin paving contractor that offers our porcelain paving contractor services to clients all over Dublin and Wicklow.
Do you need to seal porcelain paving?
This depends on the porcelain paving slabs used. Many porcelain paving slabs are sealed as part of the manufacturing process. However, some others are not, and will require sealing after being laid. Our team will advise on what type of sealing solution – if any – you need after the installation.
Are porcelain patio tiles hard wearing?
Yes. Porcelain slabs are fired at very high temperatures, which makes them dense, non-porous and extremely hard-wearing. They resist stains, frost, moss and fading, and they do not need sealing. That is why porcelain has become the most popular patio material we install across South Dublin and Wicklow.
How much does porcelain paving cost in Dublin? Every patio is priced after a free site visit because the size, the ground conditions, the amount of excavation, steps and drainage, and the slab you choose all affect the price. As a rough guide only, a supplied-and-laid porcelain patio in the current Dublin market typically falls in the region of 90 to 150 euro per square metre. Larger patios cost less per square metre. How is porcelain paving laid? Porcelain must be laid on a full bed, never on spots. We excavate, lay and compact a hardcore sub-base, set the falls so water runs away from the house, prime the back of every slab with a slurry bond, bed it on a full mortar bed and finish the joints with a proper jointing compound so weeds and ants cannot get in. Done this way a porcelain patio will look the same in ten years as it does on day one.
What styles are available? Porcelain comes in large-format slabs (typically 600 x 600 mm, 900 x 600 mm and 1200 x 600 mm) in stone, slate, wood-plank and polished concrete effects, in light greys, warm beiges, anthracite and sand tones, with matching steps and copings in 20 mm exterior-grade thickness. We bring samples to the site visit so you can see them against your house.
